Introducing a New Series of Blogs
Behind every Just Shutters installation is a story, not just about craftsmanship and care, but about the people who make it happen.
Our new series, What Our Franchisees Love Most About Their Work, shines a light on the moments that matter most to our franchisees, from meaningful customer connections to proud problem-solving and life-changing transformations.
We begin with Rob Reeves of Just Shutters Bristol, who shares a heart-warming story about a customer whose home, and outlook, were transformed by shutters designed with thought and care.
Rob Reeves – Just Shutters Bristol
For Rob Reeves, every installation tells two stories, one about the shutters and one about the people whose homes they transform.
“If there’s one thing I love about this job, it’s that sometimes the shutters are only half the story. The other half is the people we meet along the way.”
One of those people is Jacqui, a retired artist with a fascinating background in global tech, now living in a small but light-filled flat overlooking a woodland path. Her home may be modest, but her spirit is anything but. Surrounded by her paintings, including a vibrant scene of her old veranda in Sacramento, she wanted her space to feel uplifting, creative and calm, a reflection of who she is.
Her flat looks out onto trees and a woodland path. She loves to watch people passing by, but she also deals with very strong afternoon light and heat, plus the need for occasional privacy. She told Rob she wanted a solution that was practical and flexible while still looking beautiful enough to complement her artwork.
After asking plenty of questions and spending time understanding what really mattered to her, Rob designed a solution that gave Jacqui both the beauty and practicality she was hoping for. The result transformed her space, softening the light, bringing elegance and making her home feel brighter and more serene.
The finished installation enhanced the room far more than she expected. The shutters add character, soften the light and make the space feel calm and elegant. Even when the panels are folded open, everything looks neat because Rob thoughfully designed the shutters with no bottom frame breaking up the window sill. It is the kind of detail that most people would never think about, but Jacqui noticed straight away.
Rob said, I knew the installation had hit the mark when I received her lovely testimonial. To quote just a small part:
“Just Shutters have transformed my ordinary little one-bed flat into an elegant, stylish space that I love. Expertly measured and fitted by Rob, my shutter panels can be moved and angled for coolness and soft light. I am one delighted customer.”
For Rob, it’s stories like this that make the work so rewarding.
“Although this installation didn’t generate direct new work, I gained something just as valuable, a genuine advocate. Someone who feels happier and more comfortable in her home because of a solution I helped create.”
For him, that’s what the Just Shutters difference is all about — listening, caring and using thoughtful design to improve someone’s daily life.
