For Simon and Georgina, joining Just Shutters wasn’t just a change of career; it was the chance to build something of their own. With years of experience in high-profile media and advertising roles, the couple channelled their expertise and drive into creating a successful local business built on professionalism and genuine care for their customers.
Today, Just Shutters Surrey is a thriving business shaped by hard work, strong people skills and a shared commitment to doing things the right way. Their story shows how transferable skills, determination and teamwork can create something truly rewarding.
What did you do before becoming a Just Shutters franchisee?
Georgina – I worked in Media Sales, specialising in Sponsorship, Promotions and Brand Partnerships for brands such as Capital Radio, Channel 4, Discovery Networks Europe and Vue Cinemas.
Simon – I worked in Ad Sales at ITV and then Channel 4 before moving into Publisher Services and working with some of the biggest websites in the UK.
What do you love most about your work?
Georgina – I am so proud of what Simon and I have built, how hard we work and how much we care.
Simon – The work-life balance that running Just Shutters Surrey gives me. I love taking my daughter to school every day.
I never let a day go by without…
Georgina – Satisfying my passion for pageantry by making content for my social media, walking my beautiful Schnoodle Otto and telling my husband & children how much I love them.
Simon – Listening to James O’Brien on LBC, catching up on the political ecosystem and doing a Spanish lesson.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Georgina – Two ears, one mouth. Listen more… ask questions… then use active listening and listen more closely. That is when you often receive the gold dust.
Simon – Always be honest with customers, even if it means you are not going to win the business. Integrity is everything.
What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a franchisee?
Georgina – You have to be prepared to get right into the nitty gritty, get your hands dirty and repeat, repeat, repeat. Sales follow-ups should be done day in and day out, and take note of everything the customer tells you. It’s likely to come in handy more often than you’d think.
Simon – This job lives and dies by your sales ability — consider if you are the right fit. You have to be comfortable talking to a wide variety of different people every day.
Name five things you can’t live without:
Georgina – My family, house music, orange clubs, mascara and long country walks.
Simon – My family, my friends, our dog Otto, golf, and holidays.
