EXCERPT FROM 'WHICH FRANCHISE' INTERVIEW WITH PAUL WELLS
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you were doing prior to buying your Just Shutters franchise business?
I grew up in a warm, supportive home, attended college and university for a BSc in Biology, but found university wasn’t the right fit. Transitioning to food retail, I climbed the ranks to General Manager and Regional Project Manager. I married, had two daughters, and later met Lisa. The decision to leave traditional employment was fueled by a desire for independence and the support of my blended family.
Can you also tell us about the franchise you have bought?
We purchased a franchise with Just Shutters, the UK’s largest independent retail Plantation Shutter specialist. Specializing in designing and installing internal shutters for homes and businesses.
Why did you go down the franchise route? What made you choose your industry? And why a Just Shutters franchise?
Leaving a £70k salary and aspiring to be self-employed, franchising offered a safer route with accelerated support. Industry wasn’t the priority; we sought a high-value product with growth potential. Discovering Just Shutters on LinkedIn, we were drawn to their team after researching the window covering market and shutters.
